Quote:Any comments on the purple fringing i mentioned in post #4 ?

I can't really remember an issue here. The last time I used the lens in the field was on the GH2 though.

At the time I did a Himalayas trip - thus scenaries with difficult contrast transitions between show/bush.

What I did notice, however, was flare and yes, I'd say it's worse than on the Olympus lens.

Quote:afaik there is a certain mismatch between Olympus and Panasonic regardings the transmisssion/detection of very short wavelengths (UV or near UV). Anecdotally, the PF appears therefore mainly when using a Panasonic lens on Olympus camera (or/and vice versa - I am not  quite sure here).

They are using the same sensors, aren't they? Thus this seems to be a bit anecdotal indeed.

The sensor may be the same but the filter in front of it not - at least there is such a theory, regarding especially the 7-14 mm f/4 but also other lenses:

I meant "anecdotally" because the explanation doesn't seem to be popular/well known.

Ok, learned something. Although I am slightly wondering whether this is more related to the 'sensor system revision' rather than Pana vs Oly.

The 16mp sensor has also been used with a variety of different AA filters over time.

My comment was related to #4 and the follow-up, the PF/blooming is therefore not just a problem of certain lens but rather of the detector unit in conjunction with the used lens or so.
