next PZ lens test report: Olympus M.Zuiko 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro - Klaus - 11-07-2015 Quote:Any comments on the purple fringing i mentioned in post #4 ? I can't really remember an issue here. The last time I used the lens in the field was on the GH2 though. At the time I did a Himalayas trip - thus scenaries with difficult contrast transitions between show/bush. What I did notice, however, was flare and yes, I'd say it's worse than on the Olympus lens. next PZ lens test report: Olympus M.Zuiko 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro - Klaus - 11-07-2015 Quote:afaik there is a certain mismatch between Olympus and Panasonic regardings the transmisssion/detection of very short wavelengths (UV or near UV). Anecdotally, the PF appears therefore mainly when using a Panasonic lens on Olympus camera (or/and vice versa - I am not quite sure here). They are using the same sensors, aren't they? Thus this seems to be a bit anecdotal indeed. next PZ lens test report: Olympus M.Zuiko 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro - Boby - 11-07-2015 The sensor may be the same but the filter in front of it not - at least there is such a theory, regarding especially the 7-14 mm f/4 but also other lenses: http://alanwatsonforster.org/writing/mft-purple.html http://kolarivision.com/articles/internal-cut-filter-transmission/ I meant "anecdotally" because the explanation doesn't seem to be popular/well known. next PZ lens test report: Olympus M.Zuiko 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro - Klaus - 11-07-2015 Quote:The sensor may be the same but the filter in front of it not - at least there is such a theory, regarding especially the 7-14 mm f/4 but also other lenses: Ok, learned something. Although I am slightly wondering whether this is more related to the 'sensor system revision' rather than Pana vs Oly. The 16mp sensor has also been used with a variety of different AA filters over time. next PZ lens test report: Olympus M.Zuiko 7-14mm f/2.8 Pro - Boby - 11-07-2015 My comment was related to #4 and the follow-up, the PF/blooming is therefore not just a problem of certain lens but rather of the detector unit in conjunction with the used lens or so. |
