Video vs still camera for portraiture - joachim - 05-29-2012

Hi,

seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=B2EB0PTAyME#at=394 Using a video camera to shoot studio portraiture and comparing to a H'blad.

They show very well how unusual that is for editing. I am wondering how much data they are producing with that red epic. Will be interesting to see whether this is or isn't where we are going ...

Well I see it as (literally) exploitation of these comparison games... Look at that epic's size (and price) and compare it with the D800 (not even with the newer Hasselblads)... And then we have the post processing issues...

I believe this is a (hopeless) counter attack of video recorders against the (contraversial) idea that DSLRs will replace the video cameras in the future... I hear and read often that pro videographers stick to the ARRI Alexa instead of the popular red epic... I suppose professional video is such a different area that the comparison with a still camera is hardly reasonable.
