It was a midnight in here, some people like to sleep at that time <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Many were dreaming (and still are) about such lens on Pentax land...

Quite a nice lens, the bokeh looks pleasant too. Was it a loaner from a "reader"?

Sneak Preview: Nikon AF-D 28mm f/1.4 - mst - 03-03-2012

No, it's not a loaner. In case anyone is desperately looking for this lens, it will be on eBay later today <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Unfortunately, 28mm is totally dropped from the main manufacturers. They choose 35mm & 24mm for primes. Hence the outrageous price of the Nikon 28/1.4.

Well, 28mm fell out of grace with photographers, mostly. 35mm is the standard "normal" wide, and 28mm just is a bit uncomfy between that and the really wide 24mm. So, partly a problem of demand.

Besides that, Canon still has its 28mm f1.8 USM in its line up, and just replaced the old 28mm f2.8 with the new 28mm f2.8 IS.

Personally I find 28mm FL not enough wide for landscapes in general. That said, I have a 28mm F/2.8 AiS <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />... which I only use for close ups.

Well,I feel for street photography 28mm is better than 35mm. But I think this depends on personal habit.
