I used to own that lens. My sample focused fine at normal distance, but was a bit off near the close-focus limit. Just FYI...

I.m sorry to say - I also had AF misfocussing at close range, with both the 85 f1.8D and 1.4D - on the D700; now with the N85 1.4G no issues at all, works fine both on the D700 and D7000 <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
