I must admit I did not like it. As a person who buys fast lenses to use them primarily on their widest settings this lens is far from exhilarate me at 0.95. And it lacks AF which I also like. I hope the new 25/1.4 will perform better.

BTW, if I'm not mistaken it was originally a c-mount lens an only later Voigtlander converted the mount, right?

[/quote]

c-mount? What is that?

However, I strongly doubt that this is a C-mount design.

The NoktoN is a native MFT design.

It seems to me that the lens is less sharp than the 20mm Panasonic Pencake. And it's so big that a mFT camera will not be pocketable anymore. Not sure why people are interested in this lens.

The GF1 and other Pana cams let you choose the aspect ratio as well.

But they lose resolution, the 4x3 sensor is cropped in those other ratios. The nice thing about the GH2 is the sensor that supports 4x3, 3x2 and 9x16 "natively".

No, the GH-1 and GH-2 have multi-format sensors which are bigger. Rather than just choosing a crop of the conventional 4:3 sensor they expand the sensor coverage to the limits of the 4:3 image circle. Thus a 16:9 image on the GH-1/2 has comparatively more pixels as well as a higher field of view.

Horses for causes. An f/.95 lens is more than 1.5 stops faster than an f/1.7. If you need the speed you need the speed, if you don't be happy with the smaller, lighter and cheaper f/1.7 design.

You're probably right. The very similar name must have confused me.

OT: I'd love to see this one tested as well. I'm sure many MFT users will be very interested in this test.

That's very interesting. I never knew that. I'd love to see a multi-format sensor in Canon and Nikon.
