Canon EOS R system announced - Klaus - 09-05-2018 New Canon EOS R system announced Canon EOS R https://www.canon.co.uk/cameras/eos-r/ Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 IS macro STM https://www.canon.co.uk/lenses/canon-rf-35mm-f-1-8-macro-is-stm-lens/ Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 USM L https://www.canon.co.uk/lenses/canon-rf-50mm-f-1-2l-usm-lens/ Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 USM L IS https://www.canon.co.uk/lenses/canon-rf-24-105mm-f-4l-is-usm-lens/ Canon EF 28-70mm f/2 USM L https://www.canon.co.uk/lenses/canon-rf-28-70mm-f-2l-usm-lens/ Pricing: EOS R: 2300USD (almost affordable) and 3400USD (no incentive here?) 28-70mm f/2: 3000USD 50mm f/1.2: 2300USD 35mm f/1.8: 500USD 24-105mm f/4: 1100USD RE: Canon EOS R system announced - Brightcolours - 09-05-2018 Someone wondered about the EVF specs in the rumours thread: OLED, 3.69 million dots, a magnification of 0.76x and a 23mm eyepoint RE: Canon EOS R system announced - you2 - 09-05-2018 Looks better than the Nikon at least price wise - wonder how the two will compare performance wise. In general Nikon is a brand I would avoid in USA due to warranty horror stories and refusal to repair grey items (even if you are willing to pay cost of repair). Canon has always treated me well. What I say about Nikon is mostly what I read as I've never owned a nikon but i have owned consumer canon camera in the past and support was always willing to answer my questions promptly and in great detail (never used their repair service). I mention USA because different regions have different support experience with different brands. RE: Canon EOS R system announced - WyldRage - 09-05-2018 As I expected, with those prices my wallet is safe. ![]() RE: Canon EOS R system announced - Rover - 09-05-2018 A confusing time to be planning purchases, that's for sure. Good that I'm not really seriously considering anything anymore. The 24 MP Z6 will be around 2000 or even lower (now that they have to compete. Prices of the Nikon are already in sinkflight, at least compared to the official MRP. Still, if I had no lenses to begin with, I would try to find out which is the better system, attractive are both. Higher MP has Nikon but the smarter concept I tend to see on Canon's side. RE: Canon EOS R system announced - Brightcolours - 09-05-2018 Canon will come with a higher MP version no doubt, probably when a new sensor for the 5DS® II is ready. The Nikon Z has IBIS now, the Canon R does not. If Canon had IBIS it would be a no-brainer for sure. RE: Canon EOS R system announced - Brightcolours - 09-05-2018 Oh yeah, and the 4K is cropped for the R (which means it would work great with my EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM ![]() RE: Canon EOS R system announced - JJ_SO - 09-05-2018 Hmm, if I compare the specs of the two camera systems, i sometimes got the feeling they were using the same brainstorming and the same suppliers list. The weight is just different about 5 grams... https://nikonrumors.com/2018/09/05/canon-r-vs-nikon-z.aspx/#more-126630 And now I see BC's complaint about "throttled Nikon and unthrottled Canon" in a different light. Even throttled the Nikon has higher fps but much lower buffer... funny games. |
