It's a full sized ring motor unlike the SW micro motor from the original star lenses.....

..the bigger the motor the less surface micro corrosion plays a role.........surface corrosion being the Pentax culprit!......

They've been promising to employ something new for years but every time it turned out to be, ahem, not exactly true. I'm still seeing the old clutch mechanism in the product photo so I'm not really holding my breath. Smile
Of course if this lens falls into my hands (in a shop or on a trade show of some kind) I'll see for myself but that's way below in my to do list. Smile
