Nikon AF-S 105mm f1.4E ED compared to Nikon 85mm f1.4G - Bojan Stepancic - 09-18-2016 I wrote a review of Nikon AF-S 105mm f1.4E ED. I compared this lens with Nikon 85mm f1.4G. It is a great but heavy lens. I think best portrait lens from Nikon. I think that (as you say) at the end of the day if you can or want to spend more on a portrait lens, then the 105mm f1.4 is a great choice. It is really hard to complain anything against the 105mm f1.4 lens except for, of course, the price. Cheers from Studor - Bohinj, where even the rain has children.
