That makes me wonder if Nikon is planning a FF mirrorless camera.

Tokina always has been very Nikon oriented. (maybe because it was formed by ex-Nikon people). So, I wonder if maybe Nikon will bring a FF mirrorless camera.

I din't think they can afford this approach. They have to go where the money is.
Sony users don't seem to mind paying a hell of a lot so it's reasonable to entertain them.

And Tokina is Irish?
Quote: Or the Irish have a century-old tradition of grinding lenses? Just nobody noticed? Because they want to throw more tax-money away attract other manufacturers to cook their glass with Irish turf? Sorry, reading stupid marketing farts makes me always try if there could be even more stupid ideas in the same direction. This time it was close... If I read what the usual suspects suspect to be presented from Nikon at photokina, it's pretty much only dust: http://nikonrumors.com/2016/09/11/what-t...ore-106886

I don't mind manual focus, but I don't get why Tokina would go that way.

Because every "wannabe a High-End manufacturer" does it. Zeiss, Samyang, Tamron, Laowa, Irix... manual focus is only for the very coolest photogs B) they have a hard time to find mattescreens but hey, who cares? hardcore creativity doesn't need to be sharp.

Tamron has MF lenses? FE mount cameras have matte focus screens?

Maybe that means they admitted their defeat in creating a modern autofocus mechanism for lenses...
