To EZ or not to EZ (14-42 lenses)
#1
Are there any experiences regarding the Oly 14-42 lenses (MK II version vs the EZ)? I have the first ED version and, as described by Klaus, the build is not so nice and the wobble is getting on my nerves.

The MKII is better in that respect. I am wondering about the EZ with its double cams. I am aware that optically neither will be a significant improvement over the original ED.

I like the size of the EZ but am a bit reluctant to give up on a mechanical zoom ring. How does the EZ handle?

Klaus, any plan to review the EZ?

Sure, it'll be tested. It is just a matter of priorities.

However, the EZ doesn't seem to be that great.

Hi Klaus

Tranks for the reply. What I have seen it seems optically comparable (some questions about doggy samples out in the wild) to the MK IIR which you have reviewed. The key question to me is wobble, internal vibrations - the general build quality. Human muscle power allows for tighter assembly than battery power driven motors.

I actually used the wobbly MK I quite a bit. A better spec-ed lens wouldn't have gone all those places due to weight and size.

Do you (or Sebbi for that matter) have a sample or is it further down the pipeline?

It is not on the immediate radar.

There'll be more Sony tests next.
