So other than the shutter ... why should you buy a E-M5 II now? The M10 mk3 even has a better viewfinder.

Weatherproofing?

 

OTOH, I'd expect the E-M5 III to have most of what the current E-M1 II has. Just don't know when that is planned for release Smile.

It definitely does not. The M10 mk3 has exactly the same EVF as the mk2, both in magnification and resolution.

In fact this mk3 release brings very little compared to the existing mk2.

Very disappointing. Same old sensor that's been used now for 3 generations... :-(

If one already owns a mk2, there is almost no reason to switch to the mk3.

Also, if one wants video, then Panasonic bodies make a lot more sense.

The E-M5 II is much more appealing IMO.

According to Robin Wong, the E-M10.III is a bit crippled (vs. EM-10.II) and loses wireless TTL flash and lacks an external grip option.

If you focus on the negative points, you are probably right.

 

However, it now has 4K, uses the latest and improved 5-axis IBIS now, the latest processor, has a better handgrip, better AF, and a bunch of other improvements to make it easier for a novice milc user.

 

For some of the missing points, one really needs to go E-M5, and to distinguish between these two cameras more I think is good. The same holds true for any camera in this series anyway, especially considering the price differences.

 

Anyway, IMO a great camera for a beginner, probably overkill, but that makes you can use it for much longer than just as a beginner.

The E-M5 II EVF is much larger than the E-M10 III. The EVF of the E-M10 III is identical to the E-M10 II.

Having tested both the E-M5 II and E-M10 II EVFs, I can easily say the one in the E-M5 II is vastly superior.

This is a strong point in favor of the E-M5 II IMO.

Indeed. And for the price it's a pretty bad deal, especially compared to the E-M10 II.
