But you may guess it from the bokeh. It seems like the kind of lens with excellent wideopen sharpness, but not so pleasant out of focus areas rendering. Probably a logical compromise, as you won't get much subject isolation anyway. The 32/1.2 looks to have both though.

I did some basic tests and found that downsized to 10MP the V1 + 18.5 is sharper for wide open comparisons. (Also the case for 10mm f2.8 on V1 vs 28mm f2.8 AFD on D800.)

And as a side note I haven't found any F-mount lens that is great on the V1.

So whilst the FT-1 adapter maybe a good selling point, in practice I've found that only 1-mount lenses perform well on the 1" sensor.

Interesting comparison.

Sharpness may be similar, but I find the bokeh of the 18.5 very unpleasant (very busy).

Maybe, but I am not going to drop some 600 euros to find out.

Also, I think it is a fact of life that the 1 system is not for people wanting creamy background.

Anyways, going back to the 50mm I like it very much for what it is. And the price is a fair one.

Looking forward to some scientific numbers from Markus.

me neither. (and it's actually more like 750-800)

I'd like nikon to make 18,5mm f1.4 or f1.2, which is likely to be smaller and cheaper than 32mm. If you look at 18,5/1.8 front element, it's just ridiculously small.

----> moved to review topic of the 18.5.

Having received my copy I can state, that I'm pretty happy.

Compared to my OM-D EM5 with 25 PanaLeica this combination is worse but not as much as you would suspect (used at f1.8).

Giving the V1 a chance as backup cam (or cam for my wife) seemed to be a good decision (albeit the V1 ergonomics are weird, but a V1 with 10mm, 10-30mm and 18.5 set me back 550 Euro, almost the same price as PanaLeice 25 f1.4 alone).

And I imagine the V1 with 10-100 (if it is optically decent) and 18.5 the perfect travel cam (good enough quality with minimal weigt/bulk at an affordable price).
