At the end it is a question of money only.

Frankly Oly could also take an APS-C sensor and sell it as multi-format 4/3.

Since it is wider, I am wondering whether the GH1/GH2 sensor fits the assembly for the in-body IS.

Yep, it also a mystery why Oly hasn't integrated the multi-format sensor into their MFTs. Same goes for the "plain" Panasonic Gs.

It's actually quite nice to be able to choose between 16:9, 3:2 for horizontal setups and 4:3 for vertical ones.
You can also do that on any µFT, though it will crop and will loose a few pixels. I assume the later is what you are after.

I actually quite like the 6:6 aspect ratio on the µFT, which is 9MP on my E-P1. Using the pen as a fake Rollei. For that one, the GH2 will also just crop the standard 4:3 ratio and not offer any extra.

An interesting rumor that is. At this pixel density Samsung could also make 26 MP APS-C sensors, if that´s considered to be useful <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Sony is rumored to have a 24 MP APS-C sensor coming soon....

Heard this one too, the question remains whether that´s a step in the right direction.

Well, this will increase the number of decentered lenses from 20% to 35%. Really a bright future ahead.

Sorry, Klaus, could you explain that one, please..?

Well, it's actually fairly easy. The more pixels you add (to the same space) the higher is the magnification of optical defects. If you increase the pixel density you should increase QC and quality of your lenses. This will not happen on the QC side due to the associated costs - that's for sure.

Isn't this a variation of the myth of the megapixel myth? Sure higher density sensors will magnify at pixel level any weakness, but the "big picture" flaw will be the same. A bad lens is still bad, but a great lens can get better if it would otherwise be held back by the sensor.

Well, I was about to thank you there, Klaus, and now I'm unclear again..! Thanks Popo! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

It's a bit like the answer I was trying to get to here a while ago
