That's sort of what I'm doing for the Nikon 1 reviews. I added a focus rail to the setup, which helps to cover the space between two MF steps of the camera.



However, this increases the work during shooting slightly, but quite a bit during analysis, since the batch mode of Imatest no longer works (because the targets move a little).
