Agree. There is no practical relevant usage for pixel level sharpness. Tonality and dynamic range are different matters, though. BTW a higher pixel count also leads to a more natural (analog) look of the images (at low iso, of course). When the sensor exceeds lens resolution, detail doesnt drop off suddenly once sensor max resolution is reached but tempers off gradually. This is very nice for large prints. Comparing prints of my old 8mP 30D against my 15MP 50D or my 21MP 5D, ther is absolutly no compettion. You can get sharp 50x75cm prints from the 30D, with some interpolation but fine detail wont look natural at all anymore. The 50D on the other hand gives great prints; its lumiscance noise even contributes to the better print quality at low iso.
