Ah, ok, that one. Yes, I heard about it, but fortunately was lucky and installed when they had switched to the combo updater already.
It's always a good idea to wait a few days for feedback when OS X updates become available.
I've had some problems with kernel panics when 10.6 was just out (or was it 10.5? Don't remember). Happened to a few people using a MacBook Pro with AirPort stations. Took them a while to fix it.
