I started this topic. And want do you think happend last week? I dropped my Canon EF 70-200/4.0 lens still without UV-filter. Luckily it fell on its side, I thought. But when I picked it up there turned out to be broken off a small piece of the inside of the front lens. If I would have a UV-filter attached, it would probably be broken as well. As the lens is fixed I will attach a UV-filter though.
So, I wonder if I can replace the front lens myself or that it needs to be send to the repair shop.
Best thing is not to drop lenses.
