It may not tick all the boxes, but in use it's a nice lens (on DX in my case). Subjective quality in the lower half of the zoom range is good enough to mean that this lens often goes for outings when the F/2.8 stays at home due to it's weight and bulk.
I might be old-fashioned (well I'm certainly old) but I have less confidence in independent lenses because they are reverse-engineered. Will the Tamron work perfectly with future Nikon bodies?
