New Pentax lens announcements!
#41
Quote:Last word on that "personal attack" complaint, kunzite. You're very easily and quickly feeling personally attacked when it's about Pentax.

You don't even care reading but go fast to "interpretation mode". It might help not to see a camera brand a substitute for a religious confession and not everybody is banging them when one dares to point out weaknesses of a lens you even don't own.

In thisnthread I counted about 4 ex-Pentax-users, including me. All of us had reasons to look elsewhwere finding what we were searching for. That doesn't question your decision to stay with the brand.

A third personal attack. Oh, boy.

Quote:  Agreed!  The ultra wide looks like it could be a great "bright" asset to the lens line as will be the DA* 50mm F1.4........

.........maybe it's a question of age, I think it could be some years until the lens range comes together, (and I hope it does).

however, who can predict the future, these days I tend to work on the....

..."I don't know what I want, but I want it now   ......scenario!"

Actually, Sigma had stated that they had no plans to expand their lens line up in the K mount, existing K mounts are still there!

In the end it's the images that tell the story....not the gear!   .. as Toni says.......

but you will always find gear heads on a lens testing site....it's normal behavour.....usually occupying their own "brand castle" checking their "moat" first thing in the morning to see if any undesirable brand adversaries have succumbed to the waters.

Check your moat Kunsite,  you might find an old Nikonian....... it might even be me!   Tongue   Big Grin

Some years, sure. In some years we had good progress; the D FA 150-450 I've mentioned? It wasn't there in 2014 Wink

I hope they'll pick up some speed, though. The development on the first D FA* primes took some time, but that's over... right?

I'm not sure what you mean by castles and moats, but in 2011 - when nothing at all was happening with Pentax - I started thinking about going Nikon. And if I needed that ultra wide-angle prime (or some 600mm f/4 :p), I'd be shooting Nikon. So my Nikonian friends would have a place next to me, in the banquet hall Wink

You know, it amazes me how people are talking about me having religious-like obsessions with a brand when they're the one doing the attacking...

I'll drink to the banquet hall!....nothing like a good booze up to bring down a drawbridge......your castle or mine?   Tongue

Ah, yes the gospel according to the lens mount.....it all started after the seventh day apparently ....when God gave us light!

......he left us to sort out what mount would be used to capture it.........then came the wars.....and then.... you know peace and love etc.....

and the rest is history!!    .....or was it the future?

   Does anyone understand.......Why?

"leaves me with the impression of a quite narrow minded person on the other side of the screen"

Was that really neccessary, JoJu?

I'm not sure you've seen this - a first sample with the D FA* 50mm f/1.4:

To these eyes it looks good.

A Japanese photographer managed to borrow a pre-production sample:

Sorry, it's in Japanese and all the images taken are small size (due to the 'beta' status of the lens).

This should be a well corrected lens (unsurprisingly, given its size) capable of maintaining good characteristics for all focusing distances. Good bokeh (I guess... the image is too small), excellent flare resistance even by Pentax standards (??). Recommending the use of the central focus point(s) - the f/2.8 ones I suppose - but focus accuracy assessments would wait for the final product.

Build quality? They put 7 screws on the lens mount just to make sure there will be no play whatsoever.

The effect of the not-perfectly-round aperture - the shape is maintained even in the edges.
