Did these images have auto ca removal ? Also seems like you used 7.1 a bit; did that impact quality ?

That's my usual setup on MFT. I agree that I could go down to f/5,6 for the general purpose shots.

Can´t see a pressing need to buy this very expensive lens based on these rather unremarkable shots.

Yes, I'm also a bit disappointed by the border performance at 12mm. I suspect that the tested sample is not the greatest one.

PS: Admittedly I'm starting to loose my inspiration regarding the shooting locations here in Munich but this will change in a few months.

Another reviewer noted that the lens performs badly in the corners at infinity but was otherwise fairly sharp. It'll be interesting to see what shows up with the MTF and how it compares to your image. Not clear to me if your tests are effectively at infinity or more middle range. Unfortunately i'm not sure if they meant literally infinity or 'far'.

--

For example they make this statement:

"From close to about 50 feet or so, the corners at 12mm are very sharp, even at f/2.8."

--

Another reviewer found the lens generally sharp but distinctly soft around 25mm.

If the lens isn't ultrasharp at f/5.6 - across the image field - it is a disappointment.

I'm slightly worried about the sample image:

If you watch at it at 100% the upper left side is rather softish - more so than on the right side at least.

I can't tell. The tree looks smeared but to my imagination the side walk infront of the tree looks like it has more details. The smearing bothers me.

I reckon that the sample is somewhat decentered.

When shaking the lens is little there's also a bit of a rattling noise.

I really want this lens to be excellent as I think it will be my main lens when I go MFT. When's the review due?
