Heidelberg and the whole area are great, I have been studying there for a couple of years and also attended the American-German friendship festival in Patrick Henry Village twice.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend any local shops for photo development and other stuff because this is meanwhile more than 10 years ago.
However, a good starting point for online shopping is "www.geizhals.at/de" (at least if you can read and understand German quite well).

PS: In Mannheim (30 minutes by tram from Heidelberg) there is a much larger variety of shops.
