Thanks for the previews Markus...

I think the Nikon lens line up is getting quite stronger with these new f/1.8G primes. I had ignored the gold ring on it when I first saw this lens on the net, but now I can see that they're not joking.

Is there an image taken at f1.8? I didn't find it (in the FX set).

The images produced by this lens look remarkably good (by my non-expert eyes).

The golden ring on the lens made me to think Nikon will not release a new 28mm f1.4 (at least in a near future). But who knows. The 16-35mm f4 has a golden ring and it is rumored that Nikon will produce a 16-35mm f2.8.

I think this and the 24/1.4 are the new 28/1.4. Pretty smart of them to differentiate the lenses slightly both by FL and aperture. And if you need the 28mm focal length over 24mm, just get this and increase the ISO by 2/3 stop, with today's high ISO capable bodies it won't hurt much.

No, I don't need 28/24mm f1.4. I consider this 28mm f1.8 more lovely. If it does not carry a golden ring (but maitains the same quality) will be more lovely in my opinion <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

Yes, the 2nd image on the last page (the one with the fence).

Yes, that's my impression, too. However, personally I don't get really warm with that focal length (28 mm). While I prefer the AF-S 50/1.8 and AF-S 85/1.8 lenses over their faster counterparts, I'd rather get a 24/1.4 for the short end in the long run, because of its wider FOV. I wouldn't really need f/1.4, though, a little slower and therefor more affordable lens (24/1.8 or 24/2) would suit my needs just fine.

I remember there are rumors for Nikkor 20mm f1.8 and 18mm f1.8 (?).

Just see it, thanks. It looks at f1.8 the lens is pretty sharp. The left side of the fence looks soft but I think it is caused by dof. The bokeh is not bad, isn't it?
