Well both nikon and canon ahve had 200f2 lenses and htere have been 150f2 so I don't think this lens is that unique in that area.

Note that olympus and canon mtf are theoretical (calculated) mtf where zeiss mtf is tested mtf.

I have no doubt that this lens is a very good lens but I do not think it is a holy grail or ultimate unique lens as you suggest and lets not begin the debate on actual vs theoretical aperture (i.e, your claim: "there is no other 1.x telephoto in the 135 ~ 200 mm equivalent range...")

To be honest while I believe that it is much easier and cost effective to design lenses for 4/3 (than 35mm); olympus for the most part has done well here.
