Retest the 18-200mm on the NEX7?
#1
I have had the impression that the NEX 7 sensor corner problems are limited to large aperture/wide angle lens. However, seeing the review from 30mm F3.5, it seems to affect all lens. Is there a chance for you guys to retest the 18-200mm on the NEX7/or give a general impression?

Thanks!

Yes. However, the 16mm and 55-210mm will be next (in NEX land).

Prediction: 2 stars for the 16mm and 3.5 for the 55-210 <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I haven't tested it but the 55-210 doesn't feel like 3.5* just from the viewfinder feedback.

The focus peaking doesn't react strongly enough for that (which it would do if there were sharp edges).

There haven't been many tests of this lens. From what I've seen from mine the center is generally quite sharp, but the borders are softer at the short end and sharper at the long end, which is unusual for a zoom. I have the Sony 70-400G too and I hugely appreciate the lower weight for walking around even if it doesn't have the range.

I suspect that this relates to the already discussed sensor characteristic on NEX again.

I'm very curious how the 16mm will be on a NEX-7. However, I would appreciate a test of the 24mm Zeiss. As it's pretty expensive, I really hope it's 4* optical quality (not just field quality, which is great - at least on a NEX-5). Do you plan to test this lens?

Either way, thanks for your great work here on photozone!

Klaus,

There is a little inconsistency in the site navigation of the Sony tests.

This link: http://www.opticallimits.com/sony_nex does show the newer tests.

This link: http://www.opticallimits.com/Reviews/overview#sony_aps does not show the newer tests.
