I am looking to buy a 18-200mm lens for my Sony Nex 5n. Tamron have now brought a NEX fit in addition to the Sony one. I have been advised that there might be a green colour cast with one of them. I would welcome any comments about these lenses before I buy.

Unlikely. AWB should take care of any lens-specific color casts. Technically it may be there but that should be irrelevant from a user's perspective.
Is the tamron 18-200 lens optically competitive with the Sony Nex 18-200 (which is suppose to be fairly good for a super zoom)?
I can't comment on tamron 18-200.
But I do own the Sony Nex 18-200mm, and I would not hesitate a second to buy it again.
It's far better than the Nex 18-55 and Canon 18-200 and Sigma 18-200 OS and better than Nikon 18-200 VR.
I do have Zeiss G lenses and I do not change lenses for IQ - only for aperture.
