It never does as it can never determine the direction of the focus. It is a silly idea, to get rid of phase detect AF for no reason at all (camera's won't get smaller, lenses will still be the same distance from the sensor with K-mount).
As silly as using NEX with Alpha mount lenses only. Or micro 4/3rds with 4/3rds lenses only.
