Hi Wim,
AF + slight MF sounds brilliant at first glance, but what about the turning angle of the MF ring on an AF lens... Don't you have difficulties there?

No, not at all, not on my lenses anyway. I don't use AF confirm for MF (have set AF to the *-button), which helps, plus, my lenses are generally either long, or have large apertures, so I don't find this to be a problem. Do note that I use the "laser precision matte" focusing screen, which helps tremendously. Generally, what I see is what I get, unless I move a little too much.
I also know well enough how much DoF I have and how it works when I stop down to a certain aperture, which also helps. In short, I determine where to focus, and set the appropriate aperture (not necessarily in that order, but that doesn't matter too much), AF at the point where I want to focus, taking envisioned DoF into account, recompose, adjust focus via MF if necessary, and shoot.
This is much faster than I could ever hope to do it in my analog days <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />.
Kind regards, Wim
