Sigma 50-500 ?
#1
Hey Klaus,

Do you plan on testing the Bigma ie. Sigma 50-500 OS HSM?

I recall reading something from you or Markus stating focal lenghts > 400mm are difficult to test given the space constraint. Is it why there are no 500mm reviews?

It would be great to have that Sigma tested as it's quite a unique lens and from people owning it, it seems pretty descent given the 10x zoom range.

Thanks!

I think Markus is considering to go for it eventually. He has some more space. For me 450mm is the current finishing line.

Knowing Sigmas reputation with being generous with numbers, 450mm should be plenty, so no excuse <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

My excuse are two zoom lenses (for EOS), two M-primes (for NEX/MFT), one prime (for NEX) and one prime (for Pentax) which are currently sitting on my desk.

Hang in there with your Nex optics, Klaus. Glad to see you're looking out for that interesting platform, which appears to be thriving at least in terms of ongoing development. New smallish 16 megapixel Nex C3 shipping any day now, perhaps a 24mm Zeiss/Nex optic and Nex 7 with higher-resolution sensor on the horizon, my current Nex 5 works quite well, etc.

Well, the only thing that matters from a business perspective NOW is Canon and Nikon. Everything else is basically irrelevant to be honest. However, as I mentioned a couple of times I believe that we are just seeing the beginning of a new era - I'm talking of mirrorless, of course so for me it makes sense to push this a little despite the very low reader base.
