Hi Markus,

This is interesting...

This lens has dropped half a star on optical quality from the D200 review to D7000

Is that because of the impact of sensor pixel density on (relative) resolution?

And the bokeh has deteriorated..?

D200:

"The Nikkor AF 85mm f/1.8 D was a very boring lens during the tests simply because it showed a exceptional performance in all tested categories. Besides the lab results the lens shows a beautiful bokeh (out-of-focus blur)."

D7000:

"So, in summary it performs better than its faster and more expensive cousins? Well, not quite, there is one property where it falls short: bokeh. The quality of the background blur is not bad, but lower than with most ultra fast portrait primes. If you're after buttery smooth bokeh, this is not your primary choice. For anyone else, though, the lens offers tremendous value for a quite affordable price."

Sample variation? Interplay of sensor and lens?

No worries, I bought one on the basis of the D200 review and have no regrets...! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />
