Many thanks Markus for a most worthwhile test - this lens lies in an area neglected by Nikon

I assume it just missed the 'thumbs-up' endorsement

No ... I missed it, sorry <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> Corrected.

And while we're at it: added field rating, too (5 stars).

Hello Markus,

Many thanks for review. I was waiting for this review for about 3 years. This is the first PZ review of this lens which includes the bokeh tests.

Test with converter makes the picture complete - that is the way how most photogrphers use this lens.

WIth Kind Regards,

Miro

Thanks for the review.

It's a nice lens. Thumbs up to Sigma for making a (good) lens in a focal range not provided by original manufacturers. It's long awaited in the Sony community, because we don't have any Sony macro lens above 100mm.

Hello Markus,

What about AF accuracy used as portrait lens?

However the portrait application is limited mostly to full frame cameras.

thanks in advance,

Wow... it is really sharp...

I'd like to see the comparable results of this one with the 105mm VR... The FL of Nikon makes it 0 to 1 right at the beginning, but the contrast comparison makes me wonder...

Yes, PV, I second those comments.

I see the new OS version's price is 40-50% higher than the current price of the tested version, so 40-50% higher than the Nikkor 105VR too

No doubt that premium will reduce with time

Coming. Not soon, but coming. Actually, after quite some time, I finally get one for myself again today. However, quite a few other reviews first ...
