Our "corners" are still more extreme here.

You may notice that the Canon has a better border behavior though.

The Canon 24 1.4 II has noticeably better corner and center resolution than the Nikon 24 1.4G at close distances, wide open. Because of this, the corners are much easier to focus on with the Canon. At longer distances, the differences are not noticeable except in the center (where the Nikon has a lead). I'm sure the the reason for your findings is the very strong field curvature in the Canon (wide open).



The bokehs of the two lenses are also optimised differently... the link above illustrates and discusses this too.
