next PZ lens test report: Pentax SMC DA 50mm f/1.8
#1
Well, it's a 50mm f/1.8 ...

Good value lens.......... they left out the quick shift though (manual override)

Strangely the lens covers the FF sensor but is soft at the edges.

#3
55mm would make more sense for APSC

#4
To be frank, the bokeh actually is pretty bad. Judging from the sample images.

Not sure how it deserves 3.5 stars for optical quality, when this lens performs worse MFT result wise on APS-C than the comparable (size/price/weight wise) Canon EF 50mm f1.8 STM on FF, which gets 3 to 3.5 stars.

#5
It's really nice to see that Pentax was not forgotten Rolleyes...
#6
Thank you for the review. I would like to see the review for the DA* 70-200, even if it is still on APS-C.

#7
I can fully understand the need but given the business realities I can't see us moving to Pentax full format tests.

#8
I too am not interested in FF at the moment. I would just like to see the 70-200's performance on APS-C.
#9
We'd need to purchase the lens for testing and that wouldn't happen.

We'd never be able to recover the costs.

That's the same as saying every Pentax lens should have a lower score just because Photozone doesn't buy a K-1. Not exactly fair Wink

By the way, I think the DA 50mm is the sharper lens.
