Yeah, because it does certain things worse, for (more than €2500) more. Sounds like just sound advice.

"Sounds like sound advice".

BC, you're on a roll with verbal play lately. Smile

Well, for starters - you don't need to void the warranty with a dubious $400 conversion. And the A1 has 4 times the number of AF lenses in native mount.

You get warranty on the modification.

And for starters, the A1 gives quite a crop on 4K. And gives similar heat issues as an unmodified R5, in the sun. And the R5 has much smoother IS in video. And much smoother AF in video. And RAW 8K recording. And better quality 4K. Just to name a few.

No, "All of our conversions are 100% warrantied for post-conversion malfunctions and electronic issues. Conversions on mail-in cameras and our already converted cameras come with a 1 year warranty."

If you need a serious tool in this segment for 4K or 8K video with the advantages the R5 offers, this is an interesting proposition, and the A1 is not. If you don't need the advantages the R5 offers, you can of course spend €2500 more for the A1.

Are you saying that even if the camera malfunctions due to a faulty sensor/card slot/ shutter ......... "or any other failure unconnected to the conversion" Kolar vision will pay for it out of their own pocket ??
If that's the case (which I'm sure it isn't) ....... don't expect them to stay in business too long ........

 The question was:

Will Canon honour their guarantee on a Kolar vision modified R5 camera ??

Kolari is a very well respected company, which has been doing very successful IR conversions of many types of cameras for many years already, with very good service.
This is a minor conversion compared to those IR ones, where you'd have to take apart the sensor elements, and take the camera apart much further than the heat shield, which, BTW, is overkill, relatively speaking, compared to what a bunch of sites have suggested for you to do. Plus, you can be sure it is done by professionals.

Basically Kolari, as a US company, offers the same warranty as Canon offers, on the entire camera, not just the conversion or addition.

You are a little too sceptical/cynical here, David ...

Kind regards, Wim
