Flavour of the month - 105mm
#1
It would seem that 105mm (maybe even 115mm) is back in town.

So, I thought I would show how good the new Nikon f1.4 needs to be wide open.

These are with the 105mm f2.5 and 105mm f2 DC.

The f2.5 can be had for less than 1/10th the price of the f1.4.

The f2 still goes above 700€.

No need to post anything stopped down because I can assure you they are more than good.

(Focused using live view and on the left eyebrow, which is actually right of the screen)

The older optics (f2.5) seem better (more contrasty), which f2.5 is it, the later one? LoCA in abundance of course. That model of yours is totally cute. Your own daughter?

Not sure which version, BC. I will check the serial number and cross reference it with Roland Winks.

As for contrast, it's my understanding that the DC deliberately lowers the contrast to smooth out skin tones. Even men's skin look smooth - almost unmanly.

Model is cute but she has her moments. And yes, it is daughter.

It's the Ai-S from around 1985 according to Roland. Comes with a built-in hood but no SIC. My copy just pre-dates the coating.

Not sure how much of a difference SIC makes within each generation though.
