Do you think that our lenses should cover a very large focal length ? - Arthur Macmillan - 10-08-2016

I think you need a wide range, but you don't need them all at the same time.  I definitely lean towards telephoto.  My walk around lenses are usually in the 50 to 200mm range.  Currently I like using the 135 the most.

Just to be sure, you are talking about total range and not wide range in a single lens?  I bought the Tamron 18-200mm when it was the widest zoom out there at the time.  I loved it at first.  Then I found I didn't really need it.  Having the 18-55mm was good enough to cover that range.  Otherwise I was mostly using it for 200mm.  So I bought a longer lens!

My current range is 10-500mm, not including fisheye attachments, and teleconverters.  So if total range is the question...YES!
