The 14-24mm f2.8 has rather heavy barrel distortion itself too..... And will lose resolution when correcting. The 16-35mm f4 has unusually high barrel distortion for its type of lens too.

Thanks for all you good input. I would like to be wider than 20 mm if a go with a prime bcause the difference to the 24-70 is not big enough (I find) So the Samyang looks attractive, so does the Zeiss 18. All the zooms have some disadvantages, but if I have to choose, It will be the N14-24, unless I can find a store with the Tokina in stock to test right there and then. Has anyone tried the Sigma 12-24 f4.5-5.6? Good price and not so heavy!

as far as i know, the new sigma 12-24 is still not available.
the old one is not attractive nowadays.

Ummm, if you are used to good lenses, certainly stay away from the old version of the Sigma EX12-24 F/4.5-F/5.6 ... Its only redeeming factor IMO is its very, very low distortion.
This lens made me run back to the shop where I got the best of three, and get the Nikkor 14-24 F/2.8 in the first place <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />. Not in my budget, at twice the price of the Sigma, but I just couldn't live with the Sigma. I even went as far as using a standard Nikkor-> Eos mount adapter, and fixating the aperture lever with a toothpick <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />, until such time I received a G-EOS adapter.Havign said that, I am not familiar with the new version. If they pulled off the same trick as with the new 8-16 fro APS-C, you may have a winner here, if a reasonable price is important.
As to the Zeiss 18 you mentioned: I wasn't overly impressed with it mayself, on Canon. It is not in the saem class as the 21, and the Nikkor 14-24 beats it hands down.
If you want to go below 20 mm, you only have very few choices, if you want the utmost in IQ. And the Nikkor 14-24 is right at the top of the heap for Nikon. And that si both fro primes and for zooms...

Going to NIkkor 14-24 is one way.

He moves from Canon FF 1DsMK3 + old S12-24 to Canon 7D+ Sigma 8-16 + Canon 300/2,8 for willife
The new one seems promissing.

Canon is usually quite good at it and Nikon, while also notorious in the past, has also improved.

Zeiss 18 is about the same price as Zeiss 21 but the 21 is much better in IQ.
