Dear PZers, did any of you upgrade to W10? Any issues? Or should we wait until most of the bugs are resolved by Adobe?

I read through Adobe forums about W10 and there are many unhappy users. I am currently with W7, but after the last patch from Microsoft, I cant make the Bridge to work, it constantly shuts down. Uninstall and reinstall did non work. I was thinking why bother, let's switch to W10 and see how it goes. As ti turns out the future is quite unclear...

I had one error message from PS yesterday although PS did start. I haven't tried Bridge for a long while.

Actually I quite like W10 (I upgraded 3 machines). Just make sure to select the custom configuration once the install is in its last phase - otherwise you will end with a windows instance that is permanently calling home (to MS that is).

That being said - it's not a hell of a lot different compared to W7 if you ask me. It looks more modern now but other than that ...

One of my machines had W8.1 and thank god that this chapter is over now.

I watched a youtube video a few days ago, which shows that Windows 10 sends encrypted data about every image you watch to some microsoft server. Pretty fun.

You can configure your privacy or the lack thereof in detail. You have to do it, of course. Otherwise it'll be a chatty thing.

The aspect that concerns me the most are the under the hood updates. While MS will continuously upgrade your system so that this may be your "last" windows ever, you are losing control here.

If an update goes bust the whole W10 planet will come to a standstill.

The amount of data being sent back to MS is under scrutiny and those more paranoid may wish to wait for the dust to settle on that part, or some have taken to blocking those contacts by other means. That it is encrypted is a good thing. Imagine the uproar if it wasn't! Of course that doesn't answer the question, what exactly is it sending?

In terms of UI, for sure it is a no brainer to update from 8.x, but the case is less clear for 7. As I'm returning to PC gaming, DX12 will be needed sooner or later and I'm now running Win10 on all except one Win7 box.

I have not yet upgraded but as others mentioned the key benefits:

better user interface (esp surface pro 3 users)

new browser (maybe more secure)

and dx12 for us gamers (this actually appear to have a lot of benefits over dx11 with regards to efficiency; at least that is what I am seeing with preliminary benchmarks)

-

Also as others notice the default for privacy is zip; you have to configure a gazillion things if you care (there is a long list at various websites with lots of complaints with regards to default settings); there has also been a lot of reports of issues with graphics drivers such as locked vsync (supposedly will be fixed in sp1).

Thank you all for your imput. I guess I will pull the trigger in a week or so. I can live without Bridge, I was just irritated that it keeps colapsing.

Since PS and LR are woriking it is a good news.

We all tent to critisize MS the way they handle thing, but  let me tell you Adobe are not much better... or may be the worse. Yesterday I was reading through their in-house forums about W10, I don't think they nailed the up coming changes...
