It sounds as Meyer Optik Goerlitz is going to resume the production of the Trioplan, with ad-hoc mounts for all the major producers:

(can't read German, I google-translated to English).

I think resurrecting old "unique" designs is a nice idea. However, Meyer-Görlitz's prices are a bit over the top. They sell a "Somnium" 1,5/85 for 999€, which looks suspiciously similar to the Helios 40-2 and the Helios sells for 250-300€...

I kinda fail to see the attraction apart from the "old school" vibe. If it had been updated with AF and AE, then we would've been onto something...

I kind of agree - AF is probably not so important, while a chip for EXIF data would be appreciated. On the other hand, it would make sense if it was cheaper. Given that nothing of this is happening, I think it's a marketing move focused on fashion.

Honestly, if this is true, it's a shame...

Well, how do you say... "because we can"? But it's nothing new: Leica has been doing it for ages, taking Panasonic compacts and rebadging them for a steep increase in price. I don't know if they added anything of their own to the mix apart from the red dot.

I know, there's also Hasselblad with their Lunar. Even though there are many corporates doing that, it's a shame nevertheless.
