16/1.4 APS-C mirrorless - not bad, Sigma! - thxbb12 - 10-24-2017

A real shame Sigma doesn't make any of their APS-C mirrorless lenses in Fuji mount.

I'm sure Fuji users would be very interested.

I'd definitely be interested in it. There is never too much choice anyway.

Me, too.

I just don't think they are doing a kind of real manual (instead of by-wire) focus on their DN DC comtemporary versions as it will be more expensive to put in a mechanical focus.

There haven't been that many to start with... and no FL/aperture combinations that haven't been covered (if roughly) by one native lens or the other. Of course, the price is another matter...

However, the Sony E mount users may not have all that luxury...

(and Joachim, note the word spec-wise in my comment - I'm not deriding the performance of those lenses, just pointing out to their very pedestrian stats).

I was joking, geeze, how man smileys do I need for that? Just tell me.... Spec-wise they are not spectacular, true. And price-wise they were pretty affordable. I just wonder how man were sold  so far.

Albeit the green line is just at 30lp/mm (Oly provides 60lp/mm figures here).

That is rather unfortunate, indeed, considering we'd need to know how well it performs on MFT.

I guess it means waiting for a few test reviews....

Kind regards, Wim

It's quite a chunky piece of glass: https://www.dpreview.com/news/6329020538/hands-on-with-new-sigma-16mm-f1-4-dc-dn-contemporary

And I think it's aiming more for APS-C than for the µ4/3 market. As a contemporary lens, it's not weather sealed and the 17/1.2 might be the much better choice

Ugh... did they absolutely have to cut a corner somewhere?  It's strange how some companies simply insist on shooting themselves in the foot somehow.
