Sensor Cleaning - borisbg - 12-12-2013 Hi All, I just made attempt to clean the sensor of my D800 by myself and the results were terrible. I have a smudges from the wet swabs. Has anyone done it him/her self? How many more attemps should I make before give up and take it to specialist? Sensor Cleaning - popo - 12-12-2013 I use wet swabs too, specifically the Sensor Swab/Eclipse fluid combo. I only end up with streak if I over wet the swabs. Against advice to dispose the swab after a single use, I just let it dry a bit and repeat, that usually does it. This assumes it is only slightly too wet, so you only need a little more loss. Sensor Cleaning - borisbg - 12-12-2013 I used the pre moistured with eclipse. they had too much on them, I guess. I ordered the swabs and the eclipse separate. I hope the strikes will clean. Sensor Cleaning - Brightcolours - 12-12-2013 Yikes, that is bad luck. Just try it again, I guess. I had persistent 2 fibers and one dust "spec" on my 450D and got a wet cleaning kit from Green Clean. Sensor is superbly clean, but the 2 fibers and dust spec are there. Makes me think somehow they are under the glass, not on it. Bummer. Sensor Cleaning - borisbg - 12-12-2013 I've never had such a dust/particle issues on my D200. The air blower would do the job. It looks that the larger sensors have stronger statics and pull more dust on the sensor. I was so frustrated last night... Sensor Cleaning - JJ_SO - 12-13-2013 I understand your frustration. Often I had the effect that after cleanup all was worse than before Now, wet cleaning is for me the last thing I do. First is a blower, second a static brush, all controlled by a sensor loupe and the ultimate last bit are sensor swabs with fluid, used only once on each side. So far I was successful, but in general amateurs like me clean too much. Less is more. Sensor Cleaning - borisbg - 12-13-2013 I am wait to receive the next batch of swabs... hopefully the whole exercise will end good. Sensor Cleaning - Sylvain - 12-15-2013 I did that a couple of times overall in my photolife (never had too anymore with mirrorless I have to say) and always it was a matter of extreme patience and trying again, following strictly the instruction. I consumed excessive amounts of swabs but ended up with clean sensor. So stay cool :-) Sensor Cleaning - borisbg - 12-16-2013 Will do. I git them yesterday... Sensor Cleaning - borisbg - 12-30-2013 I was able to clean it up. There are still some little particles on the edges, but much better. Streaks are gone too. I feel much better now. |
