how to work on a negative RAW file ? - toni-a - 09-01-2017

My canon scanner is giving me excellent quality, viewscan can even generate DNG files, however I am finding it quite impossible to work with negative DNGs, should I use tiff instead ? Or there's a way around it ?

just to clarify, you mean you are scanning negative film on the scanner?  Which you then have to invert?

This web site sells software for the inversion, but actually has lots of technical info how it has to be dealt with:

Removing the orange mask is not that difficult, but getting the correct gamma curve for the highly non-linear negative is a bit tricky.
