Any idea what "Touit" means? If you stick it in google it comes up with a type of parrot.

I know the optical performance is what we are looking for, especially if Zeiss are involved, but I have to say the cosmetic styling of the lenses looks rather cheap, like an old plastic Sigma. The datasheet says it is metal though, so maybe it is just the way the images look and it'll be different if you had one in your hand.

According to Zeiss it is really the parrot.

Well, 32mm lens is 72mm long; this is what they call "compact". To me such a spec sounds like an absurd. It should be around 32mm, otherwise _I_ consider it irrelevant for the NEX.

That's a very odd name

I had to look at some existing lenses for perspective. Taking the EF 35/2 for comparison, it is the same diameter but 3cm shorter than the Zeiss, if measured to the flange and not including the bayonet. I guess the question is how much benefit could there have been for the reduced flange distance? Also the Canon is a budget lens anyway, so it is not unexpected for a premium lens to gain some size in the process.

Zeiss generally has targeted the higher end of the market. Small size isn't their thing.

I think the 12mm is more tempting, if you compare it with e.g. the Zeiss 18 3,5 fullformat lens, its smaller and only half of the weight, hopefully with full quality...

That 12mm looks very handsome on the Fuji x-pro1. Not sure whether the large front element (partly) blocks the VF, though...
