Quite cool actually:

I wished it had a zoom lens though.

Funny, they call it a large format sensor. All relative.

Very similar to the Nikon Coolpix A, but quite a bit sharper wide open and quite a bit more affordable too. I guess Nikon won't be too happy with this Ricoh?

I wonder how many prime lens "compacts" are actually being sold..

Honestly ... the camera is basically commodity stuff and cheap to manufacture.

The lens was probably the most expensive thing from an R&D perspective.

All the GR cameras in history, very cool:

It looks nice on paper - cheaper than key competition and not obviously poorer.

I am still left wondering whether an e.g. E-PM2 or E-PL5 with 14/2.5 would be a better choice - or something with a smaller sensor and a zoom (e.g. S110 p330 G15 or P7700).

I wouldn't think twice ! I'd go for the Ricoh vs a MFT system (f/4.2 vs f/5, probably that super sony sensor) if you intend to go for a single lens solution, given the AF is as good as advertized. I guess I'd still miss the touch screen AF.

I'd dump the smaller sensors you listed, frankly, they'll all feel like pieces of cr*p, in favour of the RX100.
