Bang.

Sony RX-1 rumour - Sylvain - 09-09-2012

Notice on both A99 & RX-1 rumours the presence of an orange metallic ring indicating "35mm full frame CMOS image sensor". Sony's own "red ring" ;-)

24MP full frame CMOS sensor

ISO range: 100-25,600

3 in. LCD screen

5 fps

Zeiss Sonnar 35mm f/2 lens with 49mm filter thread (obviously)

Price: $2700

And according to SAR, there are external electronic and optical viewfinders along with other accessories.

Sony RX-1 rumour - Sylvain - 09-09-2012

Even considering a +1000$ class lens, 2700$ is a bit much, I think. Hopefully on display at Kina'12..

Any clue about the DMF, MF switch? Direct Manual Focus vs "Electronic" Manual Focus ?

Sony RX-1 rumour - WyldRage - 09-10-2012

If the price drops down to $2k, I might be interested, but I just love my X100's HVF and don't really not a replacement.

Sony RX-1 rumour - nandadevieast - 09-10-2012

They are all 'work in progress'.

Circa 1991:

The Olympus Stylus** full frame camera with 35 F2.8 zuiko lens: $100

Circa 2012:

Sony RX1 full frame camera with 35 F2 zeiss: $2700

Circa 2018:

A number of fixed lens cameras from all manufacturers available at $400 to $800.

Ah the pain of progress...life comes full circle. With a little patience, we shall get the same thing again <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

**The Olympus µ[mju:] (US: ∞ Stylus) was a fully automatic 35mm compact camera introduced by Olympus in 1991. Notably evolved by camera designer Maitani Yoshihisa[1] from his Olympus XA design. It was very small and curvy, with an integrated lens cover. It is switched on by shifting the lens cover to one side. The Stylus was the first model in the hugely successful Olympus mju/Stylus series, selling 5 million on its own[2].

Sony RX-1 rumour - nandadevieast - 09-10-2012

Forgot to mention, the Stylus came with an optical viewfinder.

The Sony hot shoe is very different in design than the common hot shoe that the other manufacturers use. I think you cannot just align the inner borders.

That said, the RX1 looks really interesting, even when slightly larger than in your comparison.

Sony RX-1 rumour - Brightcolours - 09-10-2012

Nice little camera, but a too high price. Probably also problematic ergonomics (can't see a nice way to change aperture and exposure time....). $1500 would be more realistic...

Also, FF's biggest advantage is shallow DOF possibilities. A little bit lost (that advantage) on a 35mm f2 lens. But still, quite a nice little camera.
