I hate it already. Not the lens but the efforts for testing it.

My deepest condolences for that.  ^_^  And then the people will appear asking for "since you already overcame all these troubles, why not going on and test the Sports and the Tamrons and whatever more there's around." Or provoke Marcus to attack the Nikon 200-500, horrible. Then all the "equivalent" 100-400 APS-C lenses, oh my. A barrel without a bottom.

For me the troubles were less the optical performance but to go through all of the learning process to get the lens to perform like it could.

Maybe I missed it, but the logistical problems of testing longer focal lengths are overcome now?

Well, you can't test such a lens in a lab ...

Maybe Bill Gates has rooms of such a length but I don't ...  Big Grin

So you rent Sydney harbor bridge on a mist-and-dust-free day? Cute.

Well, the good news is that the Sydney harbor bridge is usually mist-free and thanks to the wind there isn't too much dust. However, the tourists are sort of disturbing.

My plan B for testing these beasts is to go underground. ;-)

I've solved the problem,, give Elon Musk a tinkle (call)   he's got some sort of above ground tunnel thing on the go, it's nice and long and straight..........apparently it's a partial vacuum!!!

......should be good for tele-zoom lens testing!!

Errrr..........what is it called????     Hassleloop..........errr..no,........Hyperblad ....errr?

Something like that  ....  Hmmm....it will come to me....now what was it?......

Given lenses are (usually) designed to work in air, would the different in refractive index affect results though? You didn't think it through Smile
