Fuji to join mirrorless market with own system in spring 2012 - mst - 10-05-2011

According to a german site (link (german)) Fuji officially announced today that they will launch their own mirrorless system in spring 2012. However, not too many details have been published, yet.

Haven't found any confirmation of this so far.

Too bad, according to some rumors Fuji considered MFT as system/mount of choice.

no, Fuji never siad that and they officially said in some Japanese interview(ITmedia)that the sensor of the new mirrorless will be not bayer design and a bit bigger than APS-C that may or may not rival any of current FF sensors deisgned by Sony or Nikon.

this means that their Mirrorless system will get a bit bigger sensor than APS-C, so I am hoping it to be a APS-H or FF.

Did they say so? Or are you mixing up Fuji and Leica here?

From the (rough) Google translation I only extract that they intend to outperform current full frame sensor in certain regards (SNR for example), but that doesn't necessarily mean a bigger sensor.

Leica, OTOH, has clearly stated that their upcoming mirrorless camera (if it ever materializes) will feature a sensor with "at least" APS-C size, likely bigger.

I also read the following lenses will be available at launch:

released with a kit of 24/2, 35/1.8, 50/1.4 and 85/2 equivalent lenses.

-

Fuji used to make fantastic 6x7 cameras with some of the best lenses. I had often hoped Mamiya would release a digital mamiya 7.

-

Any chance this will be fuji's new system ?

-

Then again there is the matter of cost. Hopefully it will be in nex5n price range (with the lenses of course)<img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Wow. If that is true and the lenses are up to scratch, Fuji... here I come. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Why should they go for a niche in a market that has an overall share of 10% ? They would be stupid.

Companies sometimes are (surprisingly) stupid.

Not sure if we consider Nikon's decision to go for a 2.7x crop sensor in their mirrorless camera wise or not... given the size, weight and price factors.
