PS: This sample had a slightly better centering than the tested Nikon variant.

Is there any chance to show 2 images of the same subject and exposure, both at f1.4 and at f2.8, as sample images? This would be valuable to illustrate the contrast at f1.4?

Klaus, thanks for the test. I just wanted to encourage you to take some indoor available light photos with this lens.Especially for large apperture lenses low light is a major field of application and it would be great if you could post some reprsentative photos. The added avanrtage would be that you dont have to rely on good weather... Thanks!!!

next PZ Lens Test Report: Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC - Rainer - 06-26-2011

I just noticed a difference in the votings of

mechanical quality between the Nikon FF test and the

Canon FF test (4 stars vs. 4.5 stars) ...

... Question ... is this just a personal preference of the tester,

or is the Canon-version indeed differently built?

Just a thought ... Rainer

PS: BTW ... thanks very much for the test. A very interesting lens indeed.

The Nikon version offers an automatic aperture as well as focus confirmation. That's certainly worth the extra half point over the Canon variant.

[To what extent is the lower contrast at wide apertures compensateable for by using the clarity slider in Lightroom or its equivalent?

I will try to provide some unmodified samples.

I've withdrawn the statement that the contrast @ f/1.4 is worse than on Canon.

Markus wasn't thrilled with his field images in this respect but his sample had a slight centering issue.

The Canon field images look just fine here.
