What is the hand strap used in most of the Photozone images? - Mayo - 06-20-2011

I am new to the forum, so I am sorry if this has been asked. I did do a search, but could not find the answer. I see a hand strap attached to the D3s on the Nikon 70mm to 200mm review. I saw it on a few other reviews too.

What strap is it and where do I get it?

I am also wondering what is the black bracket attached to the D3s. What is it for?

L-bracket by Really Right Stuff. I use one manufactured by Kirk attached to my Canon 7D. L-brackets are convenient for switching from "landscape" orientation to "portrait" and back without messing your tripod and ball head settings. Works just fine for architecture/landscape. Comes really handy for macro shots and esp. macro video on a tripod with angled "center" column. And a hand strap can be attached to it.

I'm very, very happy to own this bracket.

Ciao, Walter

Thanks, Walter. And welcome on board, Mayo <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Yes, that's a L-bracket, featuring what's called an Arca-Swiss-profile. That's a quick realease system available from several manufacturers (ReallyRightStuff, Markins, Kirk, ... and of course Arca Swiss <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> ).

The strap is made by Markins, but only works combined with the bracket (or anything else that offers a strap hole).
