I think this is a good post which raises a common question in lens selection. My feeling is that, as a non-professional photographer it is offen that one does not have a relatively focused phtographing subject. This causes the selection of lenses to be somewhat complex since the photographing subject is diverse. For me, before I decide to buy a lens I always ask myself if I will use the lens often after I buy it, if money is not an issue. If it is not likely that I will use it often then I will not buy the lens.

If I find that I really need a lens but I will not use it often, then I would choose a cheap one with good IQ. An example is the AF 85 1.8D. Although I do not shot portraits often but sometime I do. So I bought the 85 1.8D instead of the 85 1.4D or G.

No morality in my post, just observations and possibly helpful remarks.
I for instance did not make up that you especially liked the 35mm's weight (only a few weeks ago, yet now you think of selling it... because you have heavier lenses that cover its focal length (and which you leave at home due to weight).
It just seems you are a bit lost at the moment, but I guess you are not really looking for advice.
I wish you inspired shooting...

VL, have thought about Sigma 150/f2.8? The reviews are great for it, and users reports as well. I am considering it my self.

so ...urm, might i add a small observation to this unfortunate weburst … or is it a lovers tif (or a 'just-good-friends' jpeg maybe)
seems to me that if someone says something that may or may not be offensive, either perceived or real, the best way to approach said remark is to just look at it and say … 'well that's an interesting statement' -
no need for any high handed response - that way surely you've joined the game (and maybe it's the wrong game??) … no, i just look at it and accept it - i find an answer, if needed at all, comes that i can have fun with - so maybe the offender made a thoughtless mistake or maybe you'll meet on middle ground - or maybe just let it be and move on -
that way we can all live together and learn from each other … on the other hand, looking outside at international events, it could be that not many people think this way …
so … pardon my bokeh, it's the best i can do ...
... and as for borisbg's reply ... the sig180 is very fine, the 150's said to be better - if that's what you want - check it well though ...
