I was debating whether to give it 4*.
However, the center is never excellent and the bokeh highlights are sub-optimal.

If you look at the APS-C reviews, it looks like this lens is about as good as the 300/4 IS + TC. I wouldn't think that this is worth more than 3.5 stars... not to say it's a bad lens. It isn't. The results look very good.
